RADAR and Communications Systems

Digital signal processing and high frequency (mmWave) IC design are key components in the development of Radar, cellular and satellite communication infrastructure. EnSilica has a long history in developing ASICs and FPGAs for these markets. Our strong IP partnerships with companies such as Arm and Rambus, plus our rich internal IP portfolio enables us to provide the optimal path to a custom SoC/ASIC solution.  Our team can support porting your FPGA design over to an ASIC as well as implementing new ASIC optimised hardware accelerators based on your proprietary algorithms.  We cover both digital ASICs with high speed interfaces and data converters as well as mmWave RF IC for phase array applications.

High resolution radar for automotive applications

Advanced radar development

EnSilica has been deeply involved in radar design for over 10 years with a wide range of engagements in defence, commercial roadside and on-board automotive systems. Our knowledge and experience working on external radar projects, together with our own internal IP developments has enabled us to build up a formidable radar signal processing chain.  Allowing us to address the challenges of deploying high resolution radar solutions across a broad range of markets and technologies.

eSi-ADAS Foundation Library

Our eSi-ADAS IP, now in its 3rd generation, is a library of configurable hardware accelerator IP for MIMO virtual array imaging radar processing. The IP provides hardware acceleration of the key algorithms including calibration, windowing, FFT, digital beam-forming, power spectrum generation, CFAR detection, clustering, super-resolution, kinematics, co-ordinate conversion, measurement to track association and tracking filters.  The eSi-ADAS IP can be used as hardware accelerators on processor or DSP-based platforms, or as a fully integrated system using minimal memory, making it ideal for integrating into multi-channel RF ICs.  The fully integrated technology provides all the processing; from the ADC to the object tracks, with the FFT data associated with each track being available for AI processing.

Communications Infrastructure

EnSilica has a long history of developing communication infrastructure technology for ASIC and FPGA based products. Our experience includes high speed and low latency interfaces including Ethernet up to 100G,  Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), PCIe and JESD204B.  Digital signal processing techniques are key in wireless cellular and satellite communication systems and we have been deploying systems since the days of 2.5G, covering physical layer processing, and Remote Radio Head (RRH).  We are currently involved in developing massive MIMO phase array solutions.
