What we offer

Satellite Communications Products

EnSilica offers a portfolio of beamforming ICs optimised for electronically steerable satellite user terminals. Devices cover both Ka-band (17.7–31 GHz) and Ku-band (10.7–14.5 GHz), with options for analogue and digital beamforming, supporting transmit, receive, or combined Tx/Rx paths.

Distributed digital beamformer (ENS92040)

The ENS92040 includes four receive and transmit signal paths.

Each receive path includes a dedicated IQADC, receiver path DSP including filtering, IQ/DC correction, equalizer, NCO for non-zero-IF BFIC interfaces, complex gain and true-time delay for squint free wide-band digital beamforming. Data paths are aggregated with data from an adjacent ENS92040 device and forwarded to the next ENS92040 device in the chain, using a JESD204B SerDes interface and finally into a FPGA/Modem. Data sample timing is preserved for beam coherence.

Each transmit path includes four signal paths, each with a transmitter path DSP including complex gain and true-time delay for squint free wide-band digital beamforming, filtering, DPD & CFR functions for power and spectrally efficient transmissions, NCO for non-zero-IF BFIC interfaces, equalizer, IQ/DC correction, and final IQDAC. The transmit data from a FPGA/modem device are passed along a chain of ENS92040 devices using a JESD204B SerDes interface. Data sample timing is preserved for beam coherence.

Ku-band multi-channel analogue beamformer with dual beam receive (ENS92051)

The ENS92051 is an 16-channel dual beam receive analogue beamforming BFIC designed for Ku-band electronically steerable antennas, enabling best in class dual beam power consumption. Europe supply chain and designed to meet the requirements of DO-254 DAL 5 and AEC-Q100 automotive grade 2.

Ku-band multi-channel analogue beamformer for transmit (ENS92052)

The ENS92052 is an 8-channel transmit analog beamforming BFIC designed for Ku-band electronically steerable antennas. Europe supply chain and designed to meet the requirements of DO-254 DAL 5 and AEC-Q100 automotive grade 2.

Ka-band receive analogue beamformer (ENS92031)

The ENS92031 BFIC integrates 8 receive paths operating at 17.7-21.2GHz. The on-chip receive paths are summed and provided at Ka-band for analogue beamforming.

Ka-band transmit analogue beamformer (ENS92032)

The ENS92032 BFIC integrates 8 transmit paths operating at 27.5GHz to 31GHz. The on-chip transmit paths are split and provided at Ka-band for analogue beamforming.

Ka-band multi-channel analogue beamformer with integrated up/down conversion (ENS92030)

Integrates transmit and receive on one chip, enabling compact antenna arrays. The ENS92030 integrates 4 receive and 4 transmit paths operating at 17.7-21.2GHz and 27.5-31 GHz respectively. The on-chip receive paths are summed and provided on a selectable output at Ka-band for analogue beamforming or IQ baseband signals. The on-chip transmit path takes input IQ baseband signals.

Recent Project

Ka band phased array antenna demonstrator design for user terminals.

As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing satellite user terminal technology, EnSilica has developed a Ka-band phased array example design, built entirely around our own high performance ASSPs.

This demonstrator showcases the full capabilities of our analogue and digital chips in a real-world, system-level context, providing customers with a powerful platform to evaluate key performance metrics such as beamforming, power consumption, and integration efficiency. More than just a proof of concept, the design acts as a collaborative tool, enabling customers not only to access a comprehensive set of characterization data that we’ve generated, but also to run their own tests and gather insights relevant to their specific use cases.

Our phased array demonstrator exemplifies how our ASSPs can accelerate product development, reduce technical risk, and deliver cutting edge performance in next-generation user terminals.
